Zero to Surface: Custom 4K Tileable Material Set
This project involves the creation of a 3D HDRI and material series for commercial rendering purposes. Commissioned by a startup studio, the work focuses on developing original PBR materials and HDRI assets to meet the studio’s rendering requirements and internal testing needs.
All materials and HDRI environments were created entirely from scratch. A key challenge of the project was achieving a balance between realistic physical behavior and a controlled, stylistic visual result, while ensuring consistency across the asset set.

Communication & Discussion
After aligning on the direction, relevant references were collected and photographed to support the material creation process.

Material Creation
Materials were authored from scratch in Substance Designer using a PBR workflow.

Showcase Render
Final renders were produced to present surface detail, material response, and lighting accuracy.
4K Material Set
As this is an unreleased commercial commission, this work is shared with the client’s permission for private website showcase only.
